How has the first week of June been for you so far, with the GCQ in effect? I hope you’re staying safe and radiant!
The past few days have reminded me of a few important things, like the plight of our environment, and how closely tied our choice to reduce waste is to our decision to be cruelty-free.

I love this quote — but kindness and compassion requires action! This is why we at Ellana are committed to two things: the reduction of plastic waste, and the formulation of products that are tested only on our own skin.
In case you missed our posts on #WorldEnvironmentDay, I’d like to share some of our plastic-reduction efforts:
choosing sturdy paper palettes instead of plastic palettes
switching from plastic to glass bottles
going with foil pouches vs conventional plastic tubes for our primers and OG BB Foundie (using 90% less plastic than the average plastic tube).
Our love for the environment goes hand in hand with our love for the animals that inhabit it. Along with the continued search for better packaging alternatives, we choose to test our products only on consenting humans — never on animals.
FYI: I'm my first test subject, then of course there's the long list of enthusiastic Ellana family volunteers. You should see them flooding my inbox! 😂
I believe these two commitments are a package deal: we cannot choose to be kind to animals without taking action to save the environment. And we cannot say that we are saving the environment while using our makeup to do harm to animals. There are a lot of cruel things that are outside our control, so we do our best with what we can control — and we choose to do things with kindness. 💖
