Oily skin produces a lot of sebum. This sebum builds up over the course of the day, causing shine, makeup “meltdown,” or even clogged pores. Your skin needs: Oil control, pore blurring, and increased makeup longevity.
Dry skin does not produce enough oil. Skin feels “tight," is in need of extra hydration to prevent the topmost layers of skin from having a dull and flaky appearance. Your skin needs: Moisture retention, regular hydration, and brightening.
Combination skin usually is oily in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) and normal to dry on the cheeks and parts of the jaw. This means that oily areas need sebum control and pore-blurring, while drier areas need lightweight hydration. Your skin needs: Targeted oil control, lightweight moisture, and "A little bit of everything.”
Normal skin is neither too oily nor too dry. Pores are barely visible and is usually smooth, with breakouts only occasionally and in small areas. Your skin needs: lightweight moisture for maintenance and skin brightening (to maintain complexion).
Look for concealers that will help color-correct any pigmentation. Violet/blue circles are best cancelled out with pink or salmon-tinted cover ups. Soothing ingredients, like rosewater, help reduce stress to tender, pigmented areas.
Look for ingredients that help plump up the skin and stimulate collagen production, like Vitamin C. Pore-filling and blurring products will scatter light and help reduce the appearance of lines.
