In case you didn’t know: May 27 was #NationalSunscreenDay!
You might think I’m kidding — but surprisingly, there IS a need for this kind of awareness day.
Melanoma is caused by regular exposure to UV rays, and it’s one of the deadliest cancers in the world. Once it spreads deeper in the skin and to other parts of your body, treatment becomes extra difficult.
One of the most effective ways to avoid it is wearing SUNSCREEN. But even with that knowledge, a lot of people find incorporating sunscreen to be a rather fussy step. Despite the few minutes you need to apply UV protection not being much, the prevailing mindset is: Who has an extra 3 minutes to apply sunscreen? Why not just go straight from moisturizer to makeup?
Admittedly, I’m one of these people, too. I have a family to take care of, a business to direct my attention to, formulas and packaging to think about… I mean, gosh. Sometimes taking a few extra minutes is just too much.
But that one step spells the difference between staying healthy, and developing a potentially life-threatening cancer.
