The past weeks in quarantine have definitely been pretty taxing mentally and emotionally. While we know that scientists and medical frontliners all over the globe are working round the clock to fight COVID-19, not having a sure end in sight definitely bumps up our stress levels. And for those battling hidden illnesses, it can be extremely difficult to cope.
Since May is Mental Health Awareness month, I thought I’d start the month off by checking on you. I understand that for those who suffer from mental illnesses, staying the course may feel near-impossible, but I hope you’re staying afloat to the best of your abilities.
“Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.” – Noam Shpancer
We’re in the middle of a pandemic; if you found it hard to get through your day-to-day before this, it’s completely understandable if the present day proves to be even more of a struggle.
It’s important to take things one step at a time, and to stay connected as much as possible; social distancing and self-isolation may be the rule, but these things can’t stop us from watching out for each other. Now, more than ever, we need to take care of each other and make sure that we're all getting the support that we need, so all of us can make it through.
The future may be uncertain, but one thing is for sure: We’re going to get there together.
